Dear Readers,
In this issue we begin the pages of ‘e-Finanse’ with a discussion on a topic particularly important in the context of the current financial crisis. Its culmination will be found in the next, special issue which will be devoted exclusively to this topic and to the organization of a seminar by the editors which will take place in September of this year. Now we present four articles related to issues which the current crisis has made especially prominent. Two of these are on the effects of the introduction and application of a common European currency in the Euro zone system (S. Kozak and A. Borcuch). An article by T. Potocki and T. Śwista is meanwhile another addition to the debate on the topic of market efficiency, which the current crisis has put to serious test. Finally, the fourth article by B. Prusak uses the case of swaps payment refusal to undertake an analysis of the issue of financial derivatives, whose intensive use, it seems, was one of the key causes of the global economy’s path to the current financial crisis.
I hope you will find this good reading and I remain respectfully yours,
Andrzej Cwynar
