Dear Reader,
The publication of this issue of ‘e-Finanse’ occurs in tandem with the seminar titled ‘Foundations and reform of the retirement system in Poland,’ of which our editorial board is the co-organizer. Although we can’t give you the conclusions of the seminar until the next issue, we’d like to give you a chance to get familiar with the context and issues as presented in an article by Prof. Wanda Sułkowska, being an excellent introduction to pension issues.
This issue contains a true mix of topics. Prof. Jan Monkiewicz discusses direct foreign investment in Poland in light of the evolution of the capital market in our country throughout the transformation period. Dr. Małgorzata Paszkowska and Dr. Krzysztof Czubocha reflect on financing issues within the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy. Financing, however from the point of view of new business strategies and only partially funded by the EU, is the subject of an article by Anna Lewandowska, MSc. There’s also an interesting paper on the line between public finance and business by Dr Tomasz Skica (‘Basic measures of the relation between local community government and the small-mid size enterprise sector.’) We’ve also included a bit of financial engineering performed by Dr Paweł Wawrzyniak (‘Currency-percentage Swap in secured transactions.’) Such variety no doubt will mean that everyone will find something interesting in this issue.
